Superman Beyond--HOME IS THE HERO

I used to collect comic books.  They are very educational.  Life imitates art, and art imitates life.  Make Yourself.

I recently visited Comics Universe in Jackson, Tennessee, where I use to go every week to get the latest news on Superheros; I wanted to see what the writers are saying about the hero scene today.  I tell you, it's not like it was in the 20th century.  I bought Superman Beyond #0.  DC comics is starting all of their series back at one again.  Excellent marketing campaign, and the new story of Superman is very relevant to life in 'this world' today.

Apparently Superman had left earth for some reason.  He was planning on becoming a Galactic Tourist, but as we all know, 'this world' will always need Superman.  Here is a quote of some of Superman's thoughts on page one of Superman Beyond #0:  ~I SHOULD HAVE REALIZED I COULDN'T RUN FROM MY RESPONSIBILITIES__COULDN'T IGNORE A CRY FOR HELP--__OR A PLEA FOR JUSTICE__SUPERMAN IS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT!~
Every super villain has a story too.  In this issue, we see the birth of Armageddon.  A man in prison, finally after all being deserted by the woman he loves.  Oh, why did she break his heart?  Well, as the story goes, he gets some potion or radioactive goo or something on his skin and gets morphing powers and superhuman strength and breaks free.  His suffering has him on a rampage.  So, the Justice League is called to fight the good fight and stop him.  Here is a quote from the Green Lantern:  ~THERE IS NO NEED FOR VIOLENCE, MY FRIEND__A GRATUITOUS BATTLE WILL NOT SERVE YOUR CAUSE__IF YOU AGREE TO SURRENDER PEACEFULLY, I WILL PERSONALLY SEE THAT YOU RECEIVE JUSTICE.~  A nice offer from the Green Lantern, but this criminal has no desire to be just.  Armageddon SLAGs the Green Lantern into a building.  Then, like the voice of an Archangel, Superman comes from the sky to join the Justice League in the fight.  It was quite a battle.

Armageddon decides to visit his loved ones when he has seemingly defeated Superman.  His daughter sees him through the window and screams and cries at the monster.  Heartbroken, Superman says how sorry he feels for Armageddon's misfortune.  Here is Armageddon's response:  ~YOU CAN SLAG THE SYMPATHY ACT, OLD MAN__YOU GOT A JOB.  DO IT!___YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT--TO KEEP MINA (his daughter) SAFE FROM MONSTERS--LIKE ME.__DO YOUR JOB MAN--__OR I'LL TEAR THE HEART OUT OF THIS CITY!__I'M A LIFETIME FULL OF FRUSTRATION AND FURY...~

The battle makes it to outer space, and when they get back to earth, Superman has suffered a mortal wound, and was healed by Wonder Woman (thank God), so will he rejoin the Justice League?  I don't see how he can escape the task.  At least Armageddon was defeated, and 'this world' has Superman, again.  All is well in the DC universe.......  we hope.
